AKBAR Desk in the Prophet Land

“No matter how long the storm lasts, the sun always shines behind the clouds”.

Driving along the highway thinking of nothing but the clear blue sky’s ahead, we couldn’t but wonder what magical place we would be arriving too next with our ETRO HOME in LEBANON blog.

The land of Knowledge, culture and scenery. The land of wonders that hid within its book pages a never ending tale of a once living writer whom was called Gebran Khalil Gebran. It was him that said “Trust in dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity”. It was true that what he dreamt lead him to being eternally remembered and we hope that our ETRO Home in LEBANON would echo for miles.

Making our way towards Bsharreh, we couldn’t but wonder as we passed through the narrow roads that were once covered with snow now bloomed with the small buds of the first spring flowers. We didn’t know if it was the spirit of the place we were about to visit , but we drew from that inspiration along the way and came to know that we should be “like a flower, we should turn our faces towards the sun” always looking at the bright side and never at the dark.

As we pulled up to the famous walkway, we were halted by the immensity of the place. It was within those walls that laid the most precious collections of manuscripts, drawings and paintings that shaped our heritage and culture. It was through those doors that knowledge came to life, where imagination was set free and were everything that was deemed as impossible became possible. The passion that Gebran held for his work brought joy tears to our eyes as we made our way through the museum halls.

It was not until we reached the west side of the museum where a table caught our attention. It was found amongst Gebran’s home collection. It was this table that had witnessed the artist’s sleepless nights which he spent accompanied by his thoughts, his words and his pen. Each mark had showcased the birth of a word as the pen that was filled with ink scratched the surface of the paper.
It was then that we realized the power of the word and the importance of the desk.

Walking away dazed by what we had seen, we couldn’t but think of a more iconic piece that we could relate to Gebran other than the Akbar desk from ETRO Home. We started writing ours using these blogs in hopes to shed light on the beautiful beauty that LEBANON holds within its boundaries. Our book is still yet to be filled and our journey did not end yet.
