THE DECORATION

Knowing that we searched all over the house, and ran all around, we had failed to find the box of ornaments that we use to decorate our tree. But regardless we never lost hope. The pillows that added luxury and elegance to our living room will soon turn into our ornaments that we will use to bring life to our tree complemented with the paisley patterned teddy bear. What joy it brought to our hearts when we saw that we had finished setting up the tree.

We hurried to wrap the gifts and place the bags under it. Our gifts we had chosen a night before from AD HOME collection’s website and were delivered to us this morning. As we came to a finish, it was time to move on to the next challenging task at hand which was for my sister to set up the table as I prepared for the Christmas lunch.

The phone call was made, and the anticipation grew even more when they heard our voices their reaction was priceless but for sure the meeting will be one that will be written in our family history book. Three hours separated us from the moment that we have been waiting for, three hours will mark the true meaning of what this Christmas will bring to us, Standing there behind the kitchen counter, cutting the vegetables for the salad, as my sister slowly and intricately removed those gorgeous red paisley plates from the upper shelf that decorated the kitchen. As she swayed from side-to-side dancing to the rhythm of her own heartbeat as she made her way to the table while unfolding that silky satin table cloth on the table. Setting the placemats on the table and topping them with the unique plate selection. Centered on the table was the fruit stand with an elevated vase highlighted by the candle holders.

The food was ready and the table was looking Christmassy. We danced around as we twirled and made our way to the bedroom to prepare ourselves for the Christmas lunch. 30 min was all that separated us from the final frontier. As we rushed to get ready and made our way back into the dining area to add the final touches and light the candles. We heard a car honking from a distance. We jumped in our places.

“They are here, they are here “we screamed as we ran to the main door. There she was. Standing in the house hallways. Covered in red. That beautiful face and that lovely smile that brightened our day.

“ Ya to2oboune Ya 2eme, Ya to2obroune. El 7amdellah 3a salemetkon “we hugged her as tears came running down our cheeks And there he was, our little munchkin of a brother. So cute. Ohh how had he grown from the last time we had seen him. What wisdom and knowledge he had gained.

We all hugged as we made our way into the dining area. It was Christmas and it was our reunion. Imagine, all what we went through was to reach this point. Liying restlessly in my mother’s hands I could not but wish for the good old days to be back.
